The Damascus Cougars are the official youth feeder program for the Damascus High School.  Recent developments have changed the league players participate in for 2008.  Damascus has left the long history of involvement in the MVYFL and chosen to put all their players into the MMYFCL for 2008.

First:  The team colors are Green and Gold.  The mascot is a cougar!  Cool Logo...  The cougars participate in the MMYFCL league a well run organization that has over 20 particpating programs and follows the principles of guaranteed play time for all participants and has tiered levels of placement for each players age and ability level to accomodate safety and player development concerns.

Second:  The program is rich in tradion and is highly regarding.  The High School won the state championship recently and this demonstrates starting kids young and keeping them together as they go up the ladder helps at the older ages.  This program will continue to prove to be force to contend with going forward.

Third:  Below is recent update taken from the Damascus Youth Football website:Welcome to another exciting and competitive year of Cougar football. This year will mark our 37th season of Cougar football and we have numerous changes to advise you about and hope you are as excited as the leadership. We have made a gigantic move with our program by combining all of our resources into the MidMaryland Youth Football and Cheer Association. This year we plan on placing teams into the American and Federal divisions of MMYFL along with 1 or 2 flag teams as well. Cheerleading will accompany our players at these same levels. Head coaches will soon be selected and registration forms will be mailed by May 2008. It is very importannt returning players respond by the due date or positions on teams may not be available. We plan on placing teams in two divisions at MMYFL and will conduct an internal tryout and assessment of players allowing the coaches to place children where they will benefit the most and make our teams competetive within the league. More will be explained during camp which will start The first week of August. Mid Maryland Football has an must play rule which will assist players in becoming better players in game situations. Mitey Mites 7-9 yrs, Jr. Pee Wee 8-10 yrs, Pee Wee 9-11 yrs, Jr. Midget 10-12 yrs and Midget 11-13 yrs. are the ages of children in the 5 areas of each division. This league has minimum playing time rules or substitutions.
